Insurance & Maintenance

💍 Did you know? Most insurance policies don't cover normal wear and tear on jewellery.

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is, "My insurance will cover it."

While many New Zealand insurance policies may cover accidental loss, theft or sudden accidental damage (depending on your policy), they generally don't cover damage caused by normal wear and tear, gradual deterioration or a lack of maintenance.

Over time, everyday wear can cause: ✨ Worn claws. ✨ Loose gemstones. ✨ Thinning bands. ✨ Weak settings.

These changes happen gradually, which is why they're often excluded from insurance cover.

The good news? Most of these issues can be identified long before they become a major repair or result in a lost gemstone.

We recommend: ✔️ Cleaning your jewellery regularly at home. ✔️ Having it professionally inspected every 6–12 months. ✔️ Bringing it in as soon as possible if it receives a hard knock.

A simple inspection today could save you from an expensive repair—or the heartbreak of losing a precious stone.

Your jewellery is made to last a lifetime, but like anything you wear every day, it deserves a little care along the way. 💛

Insurance policies vary between providers, so always check your own policy wording or speak with your insurer about your level of cover.
